Animation Astrology Part 1 / 2

Our childhood has passed away watching and living with cartoon characters. Our bags, Tiffin’s, water bottle compass box etc…always carried our favorite cartoon with them. Have you noticed that these cartoons do have personality like us. Here is a look at which “male cartoon” is most suitable to which sun sign , as they resemble same personality as that of people belong to that sun sign.

Aries (March 21- April 20) - Jerry Mouse

Do you remember Jerryour small brown mouse? Tom’s biggest enemy.  Jerry's brains and wits lead him to be a leader like Arians. Jerry is known not to escape from a challenge and there is nothing that he cannot handle. Our little jerry is courageous and sometime acts as responsible leader. He is wild person to live with. Jerry always enjoys exploring new things in life and love freedom in his life. He also has a unique nature which makes him different from others. He acts headstrong under tensed situation. His child qualities attract us towards him.

Taurus (April 21st-may 20th): Popeye from “Popeye the Sailor Man”

Our Popeye is a middle-aged sailor with a unique way of speaking, disproportionate muscular forearms which has unique two anchor tattoos, and an ever-present corncob pipe. He is always observed eating spinach on which he gains power to fight his villains. Popeye's strange, comic and often supernatural adventures take him all over the world and place him in conflict with enemies such as the Sea Hag and Bluto. Don't push a Taurus too far in a fight or you'll have a raging bull on your hands just as Bluto is always seen kidnapping Olive Oyl and Popeye saves her from him. Popeye seldom is shown to be angry.

Gemini (May21st- June 20th): Donald duck

They are known for dual and multitasking personality. Donald's dominant personality trait is his short temper and, in contrast, his positive look on life just likes a Geminian. Donald is always optimistic, has a care- free attitude, until something comes and spoils his day. His anger is a great cause of suffering in the duck's life. There are times when he fights to keep his temper, and he has hardly succeeded, but he always returns to his well known, aggressive self at the end of the day. He does not like people criticizing him. Donald can at times be bullied and a teased, especially against his nephews and Chip 'n Dale. However, there is seldom any malice in Donald's pranks. He is never out to hurt anyone, and if he ever goes too far in his pranks he is apologetic. Donald can also be named as a ‘Flaunt’. He likes to brag, especially when he is skilled at something. Still, Donald has proven that he is a Jack of all Trades, a good fisher and hockey player. He is in love with Daisy duck and is genuine towards their relationship

Cancer (June 21st - July20th) Scooby Doo

Cancer people are extremely loyal just like Scooby who is extremely loyal.Scoony Doo-Shaggy share several personality traits, mostly being coward and lazy. But their friends Velma, Fred and Daphne encourage them to go after the costumed villains. Scooby’s inherent loyalty and courage does often force him to take a more heroic stance. Scooby is always protective. He is very emotional and cannot hurt anyone around. He is fun loving. It is said that you will be lucky to know a Cancerian and have them in your life and that is true because his friends always call themselves lucky as they have Scooby in their lives.

Leo (21st july- 20th august): Tarzan from “Tarzan of the Apes”

If you notice a flamboyant man who is the center of attraction, laughing and entertaining other guests at a party, he's probably a Leo. Just like Tarzan who was center of attraction for animals and birds of the jungle. He is described extremely athletic, tall, handsome, and tanned, with grey eyes and black hair. He is very emotional; he is courageous, loyal and steadfast. He is intelligent and learns new languages easily. Tarzan invariably takes the side of the weaker party. In dealing with other men Tarzan is firm and forceful. With male friends he is reserved but deeply loyal and generous. As a leader, he commands devoted loyalty. He is also very artistic and creative just like a Leo.

Garfield can be very cynical, he does have a soft side for his teddy bear, Pooky, food and sleep. He is always partial. Moreover because of his furry body people love and care for him. He can be soothing person in your rough time of life.

The Libra is known for balanced behavior. Just like our spider man who tries to balance his love and professional life and simultaneously save the world from evil. He cannot bare injustice. Generally while balancing his life he tends up messing it. He hides up many things from others. The Libra is the first of the Zodiac signs to lead protests for unfair treatment to all forms of life just like Spiderman. He gets involved in unwanted arguments which make his life more miserable. He is inclined more towards scientific research and loves to analyze his situation. He was never the first one to confess the love and always shun him away from it.

Scorpio (October 23 - November 22): Tweety pie from “golden age”
Of all the zodiac signs, this one has the most direct personality. Tweety Pie (also known as Tweety Bird or simply Tweety) is a fictional Yellow Canary. He is the most straightforward cartoon who tells the best and the worst on person’s face. Tweety is a very aggressive character who tries anything to foil his foe, even kicking his enemy when he is down. He is generous towards his friends. Due to his nature he’s always satisfied or contented.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 22): Aladdin

Sagittarius is an outgoing personality, optimistic and always looking for another great experience just like our Aladdin. Aladdin is portrayed as clever, and ultimately a good-hearted person. He is a brave young man who seeks to win the affection of many other characters.. The biggest difference from the norm is that, unlike most youthful Disney heroes, he is a doer rather than a passive character .Aladdin has kind heart and encourages others around them. He is honest to a fault and expects people to be straightforward with him. Like Sagittarius Aladdin is also often their best at a moment of crisis, being well suited for handling the pressure of the moment.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 19): Dexter from “Dexter’s laboratory”
Dexter is the class know-it-all, and prides himself on seldom being proved wrong. This is contradicted by his experiments, many of which are frivolous creations used to achieve ends presented in the show, such as a machine built to render him invisible so as to sneak a look at his birthday presents. He is prone to believing urban myths that he is fed by Dee Dee, which often cloud his judgment, as well as superstitions. He has many phobias, namely his fear of bugs, thunderstorms and clowns. He also struggles to fit in, and the hysteria that potential social situations cause in him constantly gets him in trouble. He sometimes has an evil laugh every time he thinks of something mean to do. He is excellent at his work. He is very intelligent at his work.

Pisces (February 20 - March 20): flounder from “little mermaid”
Flounder, Ariel's best friend, is a bright yellow and golden blue colored tropical fish despite the name, he is not a flounder, but is a juvenile Atlantic blue tang. He is the protagonist of the film. In all appearances, he is seen to be younger.
Flounder scares easily, and is prone to panicking under stressful situations like a single shark breaching the sunken ship, but when Ariel is in trouble, he comes through for her without hesitation. In the film he is the only character to give unconditional support for Ariel's fascination with human things, and at one point gives Ariel a statue of Eric as a gift. He hates noisy places and always loves to be near cool and quiet place. He has immense love towards his best friends. His sweet voice makes you fall for him.

Ram Mohan: The Legend of Animation

Mr.Ram Mohan

It’s often observed that great personalities have the ability to create opportunities to seize the moment rather than waiting for it to come by. Way back in 1956 when Indians were drawn to the craze of bollywood films, this gentleman named Ram Mohan gave up his post-graduation studies to enter a field which wasn’t even talked about then. Close to six decades have passed by since then. Today he’s one of the pioneers of Animation in India and fondly called as the Father of Indian Animation. All it took was a meeting with Clair H Weeks, a Disney Animator who appreciated the cartoons drawn by this young man. And since then his hobby got transformed into a profession and with him, a promising emergence of a new perspective towards animation in India.

Recounting is initial tryst with animation, he says,” during my school days I had a fascination to draw moving cartoons on the right side of my notebook. As you feathered through the pages of the book you cold see the little characters moving. Cartoons by Virgil Partch and those from Punch Magazine were one of my favorites." The above example clearly showed where the interest lies even though he kept pursuing his higher education in physics. But it was only a matter of time when the love for implementing his creative imagination led him into a different field. He started sketching cartoons for an editorial column by CR Mandy, the then editor of Illustrated Weekly of India.

Meena Series highlighted on
various social issues

As time passed by, after his experience at the Films Division of India, he set up his own firm called Ram Mohan biographics in 1972. The firm started out by making small commercials. However he slowly began to face the crunch of skilled artists to take up bigger projects. Hence he decided to tie-up with Ronie Screwavala from UTV and set up RM-USL, which went on to take up outsourced work. In the mean time he also trained over 450 artists in the span of five years to keep up with the demand. This firm is still credited for coming up with the popular ‘Meena Series’ for the UNICEF.

What makes him different from other animation experts of the industry is his constant highlight on creating animators with creative minds than creative technology. He believes, with latest software an animator can only give the best movements to the character, but beyond that it’s essential to imbibe distinctive emotions, physical features into them, which creates the real impact and more significantly highlights the skill of a true professional.

In a recent interview he expressed concerns of animation schools becoming a commercial business as the industry is expanding. “There are institutes coming up which promise degrees in specialized courses in just 6-7 months, thus creating raw professionals which become a liability and waste of Talent." This according to him has directly affected the attitude of professionals entering the industry. Back in the 1990's youngsters learned animation with a sense of satisfaction that their creativity is being put to use on a larger platform but today many of them wish to look at the salary even before they get a hold of their field.
"It's unfortunate to see today's youngsters learning animation with an eye on the pay packet rather than enjoy the essence of this field"

He established Graphiti School of Animation in 2005 with a clear intention to create professionals with creative minds rather than just learn the software and drag around in the field. The curriculum is based on meeting the current demand of the industry.

Mr. Ram Mohan has reached an age where many others plan of having a peaceful retired life. But this genius still has a burning passion to spend most of his time at the Graphiti studio to supervise and work upon new characters. On a lighter note he mentions, "With over six decades of animation gossip hidden inside, I would better put it to use in the field than let it go by."  As time progresses we hope this veteran animation guru continues to nurture and set new levels for himself and the industry, which he has been effectively doing since past few decades.
